PickiPet (“we,” “our,” or “us”) values your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights. By using PickiPet, you agree to this policy.

• Account data: Your email and password (for login).
• Pet data: Pet names, types, food logs, ratings, notes, and optional photos you upload.
• App data: Device info, crash logs, and analytics collected automatically by Expo and Supabase.
• Anonymous analytics: Aggregated data about activity such as products that are scanned, trending products, the number of pets, and pet types. This data is collected without identifiers and is not tied to any user.

We do not collect sensitive personal data such as payment information, government IDs, or biometric data.

2. How We Use Your Information

We use your data to:

• Provide and improve the PickiPet app.
• Store your pet food history and preferences.
• Send account-related communications (like password resets).
• Ensure security and prevent misuse.
• Analyze anonymous usage trends (e.g., product scans and pet demographics) to improve features and surface trending products and insights.

We do not sell or rent your data to advertisers.

3. What We Store vs. What We Use

We store certain information to provide the service, and we use a subset of that information to operate and improve features.

• Account data (email, password)
  • Stored: Yes, to maintain your account and sign you in.
  • Used: For authentication and account communications (e.g., password resets).
• Pet data (pet names, types, logs, ratings, notes, photos)
  • Stored: Yes, so you can view and manage your history.
  • Used: To display your logs and features you request (e.g., history, insights).
• App data (device info, crash logs, platform analytics)
  • Stored: Limited retention by our service providers.
  • Used: To keep the app reliable and diagnose issues.
• Anonymous analytics (aggregated scans, trending products, number of pets, pet types)
  • Stored: Aggregated only; no personal identifiers.
  • Used: To surface trends and improve features. Not tied to any user.

4. Sharing of Information

We may share your data only with:

• Service providers (e.g., Supabase for authentication/storage, Expo for notifications).
• Legal reasons, if required by law.

5. Data Retention

We keep your data as long as you have an account. If you delete your account, your personal data and pet data will be permanently deleted.

7. Security

We use Supabase’s authentication and database security features to protect your data. However, no system is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.

8. Children’s Privacy

PickiPet is not intended for children under 13. If we learn we’ve collected personal information from a child, we will delete it.

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we’ll notify you through the app or by email.
